Rutter’s Farm Stores has broken ground for a 5,150-square-foot convenience store at 1455 York Road, Monroe Township, Cumberland County.
The 24-hour store will create 35 to 40 permanent jobs when it opens this summer. It will be Rutter’s third store in Cumberland County (the others are in Shippensburg and Carlisle), all opened since 2006.
“It’s a growing area, and Rutter’s is excited to be growing along with Cumberland County,” said Scott Hartman, president and CEO of Rutter’s Farm Stores. “We look forward to welcoming customers through the doors of our newest store.”
The store will incorporate a variety of eco-friendly attributes, including energy-saving skylights, triple-glazed windows, LED exterior lights, a white reflective roof, and an energy and climate control management system. Outside, the store will offer a recycling bin for bottles, cans and newspapers and a bike rack.
The store will offer fresh-food menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, touch-screen ordering, a premium-coffee island, seating, and a surcharge-free M&T Bank ATM.
The store’s award-winning design will include open ceilings, floor and wall tiles, and touch-free restrooms with floating ceilings, music and other upscale accents.
Outside, two canopies will cover 16 fueling positions for gasoline, diesel and kerosene.
Rutter’s Farm Stores operates 55 convenience stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin and Lancaster counties.
