Jerry Weiner, Rutter’s Farm Stores’ vice president of foodservice, is among the four inaugural Leaders in Retail Foodservice award winners.
The awards celebrate operators who lead their respective channels in innovative foodservice programs. Weiner accepted his award June 29 during the Foodservice at Retail Exchange in Chicago. The winners will be profiled in the August issue of Fare magazine.
Weiner has worked for Rutter’s for 10 years. He has more than 35 years of experience in the foodservice industry, for convenience stores and restaurants.
“Under his direction,” according to a news release announcing Weiner’s award, “the Rutter’s Farm Stores chain has embraced the latest foodservice technology to create efficient operations, including induction cook tops and customizable, touch-screen ordering systems. Rutter’s stores are well-oiled machines, working on a cook-and-hold system that allows for speed and efficiency along with freshly finished products. Unique food offerings at the c-store chain include made-to-order stir-fries, ‘pig tails’ and complete comfort-food meals.”
Family-owned and third generation-managed, York-based Rutter’s Farm Stores (www.rutters.com) operates 55 convenience stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin and Lancaster counties.
