Have you ever had a Pigtail?

So what is a Pigtail? Anyone know? Well, I’ll admit it; I had no clue what it was when I was told that Rutter’s was adding it to its menu in March 2010. So I went ahead and investigated this peculiar item and this is what I found out. Pigtails are a hot dog sliced into four strips then deep fried. They get their name from the curling of the strips once they are deep fried. Rutter’s will introduce this new item come March 22, 2010. There will be 8 strips to each order and will cost $1.29. You will also have a choice to add a side of ketchup, mustard and Dijon mustard. Pigtails will have the possibility of becoming a part of a combo meal or kid’s meal.
Other items that will be introduced March 22 are sliced roast pork for lunch or dinner meal, pork egg rolls and seasoned potato wedges. Chicken and hamburger sliders will be available as kid’s meals and three new dessert items will debut such as apple pie dumplings, strawberry cheesecake dumplings and chocolate swirl cake dumplings. These desserts are all pieces of cake that are deep fried and served in three’s. Oregano, Dijon mustard and sweet and sour sauce will also be available as condiments.
