Rutter’s provided $25,000 to help the American Red Cross launch a Youth Preparedness Program in York County. The program will provide 1,500 youths between the ages of 8 and 12 with training in fire, water and bicycle safety, first aid, disease prevention and emergency preparedness.
Rutter’s awarded $25,000 to Junior Achievement of South Central Pennsylvania to support its Exchange City in York, where students learn about American enterprise by working in a life-sized replica of a city that comprises 14 businesses.
Teaming up with the National Association of Convenience Stores, Rutter’s presented two checks totaling $10,000 to The Four Diamonds Fund, which provides support to families whose children are being treated for cancer at Penn State Children’s Hospital in Hershey. The awards were made in memory of Karen Gentzler, a 25-year Rutter’s employee who died from cancer.
Each year, Rutter’s will make financial awards to a select number of children’s organizations in the markets we serve.

The mission of Rutter’s Children’s Charities is to improve the lives of children in the Rutter’s market area. Each year, Rutter’s will make financial awards to a select number of children’s organizations in York, Adams and Franklin counties.
Rutter’s has established the following criteria for non-profit organizations interested in applying for funds through its Rutter’s Children’s Charities:
• Organization must benefit children
• Organization must be located within Rutter’s marketing area.
• Organization must spend monies within Rutter’s marketing area.
• Organization must use monies for tangible items, not for general operating and overhead expenses
• Organization must provide accounting information and any other proof of how funds are used as requested by Rutter’s
