This month, we created a new marketing position on our team for a Fresh and Local Category Manager! Consumers have shown increased demand for local, fresh, and healthier products. We felt compelled to create a position within our organization to help meet the emerging consumer needs. We promoted from within and awarded the position to former Food Service Quality Assurance Manager, Cheri Booth!
The Fresh and Local Category Manager will report to the Director of Food Service, Ryan Krebs. She will oversee all aspects of local, fresh procurement including produce, seasonal fruits & vegetables, foodservice, snacks, beverages, beer and wine!

We think that deserves a dedicated person to make sure we are providing our customers with the highest quality local products possible. We know that Cheri will do a great job in this new role and cannot wait to see what the future holds for her and this new position,” said Ryan Krebs, Rutter’s Director of Foodservice.
Retail Vision catch up with CEO Scott Hartman. The multi award-winning, family-owned retailer has food in its DNA but it has harnessed technology to deliver the offer across its 62 c-stores in Pennsylvania. The business was awarded a 49.5% ranking for its food and beverage expertise by Chicago-based research firm Technomic, and partners with NCR to perfect its foodservice offer.
The annual Red Cross Heroes of York & Adams Counties breakfast is always an uplifting event. Hearing the stories of everyday men and women making brave and selfless choices to help a person in need is truly inspirational. This year’s breakfast, held on November 15th, was no exception. Apart from maybe one–and it’s an exception that hits pretty close to home for us. That’s because this year, one of the heroes honored at the breakfast was one of our very own; a Restaurant Manager from our store #66 in Carlisle, Susan Neuland.
This is Susan’s story:
On the morning of November 10, 2011, Susan was at work as a Restaurant Manager at our store on the Harrisburg Pike in Carlisle. A regular morning customer alerted Susan to a customer lying unconscious in the men’s restroom. Immediately after entering the restroom, she pulled the unconscious victim to the center of the floor so that she could check his pulse and listen for his breath. The man was not breathing, so Susan asked a coworker to call 911 while she began CPR. She, with the help of another customer, administered chest compressions and artificial respiration to the customer for nearly 10 minutes until emergency personnel arrived on the scene.
The medical professionals that responded to our store on the morning of the incident told Susan that without her assistance, the outcome could’ve been much different. She helped to save a man’s life. We nominated Susan to be honored as a Red Cross Hero because she acted with courage and without any thought for herself to help someone who needed it.
That’s our definition of a hero.
We want everyone to know how proud we are to call Susan one of our own. We think she’s proven that she’s a great person to have around in an emergency, but we also want people to know that she’s a hard worker, a loyal employee and an incredible human being.
