Rutter’s Director of Food Service Receives National Award
Convenience Store News, the number one magazine publication in the industry, just announced their winner for 2017’s Foodservice Leader of the Year: Ryan Krebs, Director of Food Service at Rutter’s!
Ryan Krebs was selected as the 2017 Foodservice Leader of the Year for his efforts to help transform the foodservice operation at Rutter’s. Krebs will be awarded at the 2017 CSNews Convenience Foodservice & Beverage Exchange in Chicago next month.
He has experience as an executive and corporate chef. Starting out at the store level, he has been with us for four years! Ryan started out as a Roving Restaurant Manager, where he would go from store-to-store assisting the team as needed. He quickly became the restaurant manager of a brand-new Rutter’s in just one short year! When it came time to find a qualified person to fill the shoes of Jerry Weiner, retired Vice President of Food Service, Ryan was the best candidate. Ryan brought customer favorites to our menu like basket meals, bacon-wrapped cheddar hotdogs, funnel cake fries, and an extensive seafood line.
“I am extremely honored to be awarded CSNews’ 2017 Foodservice Leader of the Year. Rutter’s offers restaurant quality food and variety that people wouldn’t expect to have at a convenience store. To be able to provide our customers items like tiramisu, wok bowls, and seafood, is a huge step for the industry. I look forward to what lies ahead for our industry-leading organization,” said Ryan Krebs, Director of Food Service.
Technomic, an independent research firm in the foodservice industry, surveyed convenience store guests in their latest Consumer Brand Metrics survey to rank brands on flavor, taste, craveability, and quality. Rutter’s finished top on the list of 27 chains conquering foodservice, and well above the quick-service restaurant average!
We were recognized for our extensive menu, which offers items like BBQ short ribs, nachos, and wok bowls. We also prides ourselves on providing local favorites! For example, fried sweet bologna bites from Lebanon, PA and chicken pot pie from Lancaster, PA. The most craveable menu items, according to our customers, were sandwiches, burgers, and chicken. According to an article on by Convenience Store Products, “Rutter’s signature line of ultimate chicken sandwiches reflects the chain’s willingness to have fun and build buzz.”
“I am very proud of our entire foodservice team for helping us win top convenience store conquering foodservice. We were voted number one in overall food taste and flavor in the country, which is amazing. I want to thank our customers for ranking us so high and above so many other chains. We are trying to become known as a quick-service restaurant, because we serve restaurant quality food that our customers love,” said Ryan Krebs, Director of Food Service.
